In January of 2006 Max was asked to join the art department of the New Yorker magazine as an art director, and the youngest employee in their organization. He remained there for four and a half years, all the while focusing on his art. During that time his work was shown in galleries in Brooklyn, the East Village, DUMBO, and Chelsea. He published a three book (150 page) comic epic with Rotabene press; the books are printed in German, Japanese, and English. Max has lectured at the Society of Illustrators, SVA, Parsons, and Pratt Institute. He has also sat as a judge for the American Illustrations annual and the Society of
Illustrators annual.
